This year, the fasting for Easter coincides with the fasting for Ramadan. Our students work in the morning and then come for Greek lessons. They haven't even had a sip of water! Their will to live a meaningful life is so strong, they keep going. Around 6:20 PM, when the sun sets, the lesson stops for a moment. The refugees drink water, and the kitchen team serves tea, juice, and cookies. It's Iftar time! They could rush home to eat, but instead, they stay until the very end! The lesson finishes, and only then do they leave.
Today, we all ate together and celebrated the end of Ramadan. Just like us, they celebrate it with lamb!
Turns out, we have a lot in common!
